Description
Introduction/Background: Subtle acts of verbal and nonverbal offensive behaviors, expressions, and interactions are common in the clinical environment and are disproportionately encountered by individuals belonging to marginalized or underrepresented populations. Microaggression, common in healthcare, often affects students in the clinical setting. These negative behaviors are often unaddressed or ineffectively addressed. Therefore, it adversely affects the Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist's (SRNA) confidence, performance, well-being, and, ultimately, patient care and safety. Implementing educational awareness of microaggression for students exhibits the ability to foster heightened consciousness and empowerment while also equipping students with the necessary information to handle the challenges effectively.1 The ongoing effort to develop precise programs to empower and educate students on recognizing and respecting cultural differences will increase awareness and ultimately decrease incidences of microaggression.
