Description
The healthcare industry has made various advancements, yet clinicians have resisted embracing modern advances intended to improve patient outcomes. Providers may resist change because they achieved comfort with specific techniques that have proven successful;therefore, they are unwilling to accept change in their practice. One of the notable advances in healthcare is video laryngoscopy (VL), a valuable tool that can provide reassurance and safe outcomes with proper education and training. With this literature review, the reviewers hope to uncover the differences between VL and direct laryngoscopy (DL) in the pediatric population. The study concludes that VL has some clinical advantages in first-attempt intubations, but more research is necessary to ascertain whether VL is superior to DL.
