Description
Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and Glucagon-like-peptide 1 agonists (GLP1a) represent two novel medications with perioperative complications, including euglycemic ketoacidosis and delayed gastric emptying. Electronic health alert systems are valuable tools that aid healthcare providers in enhancing patient safety and ensuring treatment efficacy. Anesthesia providers need more resources, such as alerting systems, to help identify potential perioperative complications associated with SGLT2i and GLP1a medications. This study aims to evaluate complications related to SGLT2i and GLP1a and assess the potential role of electronic health alerting systems in addressing them.
