Description

The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to determine if there was a correlation between the number of accredited sonography programs and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) first-time pass rates from 2014 to 2024. The theoretical framework for this study was the law of effect. Secondary data from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the ARDMS annual reports were used for this study. These sources provided reliable data relevant to sonography program accreditation and board pass rates. Data collection involved reviewing and extracting relevant information into spreadsheets. The Pearson and Spearman correlation tests were used for statistical analysis to determine if there was a statistically significant relationship between the two variables. The results indicated a negative correlation between the number of accredited sonography programs and ARDMS first-time pass rates over the 11 years analyzed. Future research should expand the scope of data to other allied health programs and examine additional program-level factors influencing credentialing outcomes.
