Description

The purpose of this qualitative action research study is to examine systems-level coordination as it occurs in the day-to-day operation of a workplace learning platform within a complex organizational setting. For the utility of this study, systems-level coordination is defined as the interpretive and relational work required to align learning technologies, data practices, and rolebased responsibilities across distributed functions. The study focuses on employees involved in the design, delivery, support, and reporting of learning experiences who regularly interact with the learning system as part of their work. Andragogy guides this study by framing coordination as a form of ongoing workplace learning, shaped through experience, context, and problemsolving rather than formal instruction. Data will be collected through organizational document and artifact review, learning platform observations, support ticket records, and semi-structured focus groups. Document and artifact analysis will be used to examine intended workflows and ownership structures, while focus groups will explore how coordination and decision-making are experienced in practice. Support ticket data will provide additional insight into recurring coordination breakdowns across the learning ecosystem. Data will be analyzed using iterative qualitative coding and descriptive quantitative analysis to identify patterns related to coordination, system flow, and role clarity across governance and ownership practices.
